Extremis second time on stage for the Design Management Europe Award |

|
After having won the DME Award last year in the ‘small company’ category, Extremis has been called on stage again.
This time an honorary mention was obtained in the ‘sustainability’ category. An international jury of experts in design management made a selection out of 230 entries from 22 countries.
The Awards were announced on 13th October in the Wales Millennium Centre in 7 categories, 4 by company size, completed by following categories: “non profit”, “first time design project” and ‘”best implementation of a design strategy for sustainability”. Per category 3 victors were selected, completed by a changing number of honorary mentions. |

Last year 3 Belgian companies won an Award or an honorary mention. This year no less than 6 were rewarded! This score leads Belgium to a second place right behind the United Kingdom. On a European scale , this is a truly remarkable fact looking at the large amount of entries that were received out of so many different countries. Being selected twice for what are called the ‘Oscars’ of the design community, is pretty unique as such. And this is something we are surely very proud of at Extremis. |

Extremis on the Asian market
Michiko, our agent for the Japanese market, organized a fantastic presentation at Interior Lifestyle in Tokyo (11-13 June).
Our client HN Lin in Shanghai very recently opened its 5000 m² new showroom, Extremis' Export Manager Dominique Meersman was there.

Extremis at Antwerps Green Quarters (Groen Kwartier)
The Antwerp Military Hospital was part of a closed military domain for many years.
This area is now being transformed into a green, public living zone called 'Green Quarters'.
A trendy Lounge Bar/Restaurant named 'Pop Up' will be raised up at this location from 4th of July until 30th of October in order to give the necessary publicity to the project.
During that time visitors will be spoiled on the field of gastronomy, aesthetics and art.
Extremis' contemporary furniture provides an extra dimension to this initiative, which is located in the middle of a historical domain... you bet it has that special touch. |

The Belgian design companies Dark and Extremis have respectively scooped first and second prize at the first edition of the Design Management Europe Awards, which could be described as the Oscars of the international design world. Dark is renowned for its non-conformist, eye-catching lighting equipment while Extremis has in recent years grown into the world’s leading outdoor furniture and accessories design specialist.

An independent jury of international design experts has selected Dark and Extremis from a list of no less than 230 participants from 21 different countries. It is no coincidence that they have both been chosen: after the international breakthrough success of the Belgian fashion designers, these unique nominations prove once again that Belgian design is creating a worldwide furore. |

The added value of a DME Award is that it is not just an award for a single design, but for a company’s entire design management. So it rewards the way in which both companies invent, create, manufacture and commercialize their products on an international scale. |

Coincidence or not, both award winners know each other very well, often use each other’s products, have worked together on several occasions, and now they have both received international recognition for their design management. |
