Sunbrella

Sunbrella is used for the ExTempore and Gargantua cushions.
Sunbrella is a fabric especially developed for outdoor use, made of woven acrylic fibres. Sunbrellas fibres are yarn-dyed before weaving. Consequently, the dye forms an integrated part of the fibre, distinguishing Sunbrella fabrics from fabrics that are piece-dyed after weaving. Its colours are much brighter and will retain their quality whatever the weather conditions.
Sunbrella fabrics come with a five-year guarantee against fading and loss of strength. Sunbrellas other textile properties ensure that the fabric will not crack, tear or become hard, as is the case with vinyl fabrics.

Sunbrella is not waterproof, but it is water-repellent. This means that a water-repellent coating is applied to the fabric during the finishing process. This coating loses its effectiveness by normal use and when the fabric is washed. In case of frequent washing and permanent exposure to the elements, we recommend you have the Sunbrella fabric treated again with a water-repellent product.
Acrylic fibres do not allow mould growth unlike natural fibres. Nevertheless, mould will grow on any dirty and humid surface. We consequently recommend cleaning your fabric regularly to prevent mould growth.
Sunbrella fabrics are 98% UV resistant, protecting them from the harmful radiation of the sun. White and light-coloured fabrics are less protective than dark-coloured ones. This protection factor is inherent to the product and will consequently not diminish by use or exposure to sunlight. |
