What is Qrater?

First of all, Qrater was not conceived as a regular barbecue for preparing a meal. As a matter of fact, Qrater was designed to be a big campfire dish that can be used in the garden or in open spaces. Singing a song, telling a story while looking at the constantly changing play of the flames and the fire is the atmosphere Qrater needs.

Situation

Early evening, people invite some friends to over. It's still a bit chilly outside. To create a cozy atmosphere and to warm up, the campfire in the Qrater is lit. Everybody is sitting around, and everybody who passes by, wants to join the group. Place enough off course, have a glass of wine and put on some music!!

Qrater needs

A lot of wood, a lot of people (at least 2, but the more the better), a lighter or matches. Optional: wine , a guitar, music, fish or meat, marshmallows, eyes to stare into.

Size matters

The Qrater is quite big. This has several reasons: first of all, in order to make a big camp fire, and secondly: you have sufficient place to gather around the Qrater with at least 14 people, a guarantee for a good atmosphere.

Third reason: if you wish to use the optional grilling tools, you can move the burnt wood that has now turned to charcoal out of the fire with the poker, and bring it to the side of the Qrater. You can grill whatever you want, without burning it. Never grill food above open flames, always above charcoal!

Getting started

So, how do you start? First of all you make sure you have quite a lot of wood to light, because you need to keep the fire very big. When the flames start to go down, you can not avoid smoke and ashes whirling around. Always take care that there is enough wood in the Qrater to keep the flames high and the smoke up. Only light wood on the Qrater! No paper, plastic or other materials.

Put the tripod on a horizontal surface.

Put the dish on the tripod and light a small fire.

Have some wood in the neighbourhood.

Start building a pile.

Keep the flames high by putting enough wood on the qrater.

Let the fire grow.

Optional skewer and grill

When you desire a little bite, you can use two grill options. These are individual tools, on which you can prepare a small snack like a marshmallow or a sausage. You can use the skewer for small pieces of meat and for bigger pieces you have the grill. The skewer and grill are optional tools for the Qrater.

Slide the grill standard on the dish and fasten.

Slide the handle upwards.

Take the skewer out of the grill standard and let it rest on the handle.

To fix the grill, slide it over the standard.

Use the poker to move the charcoal to the side.

Put the grill above the charcoal, and put on your favorite snack.

The skewer is perfect for sausages and marshmellows.

Turn on the music and wait till the food is ready.
