At Orgatec, the biennal fair for office interiors in Cologne, we presented Virus, a picnic table in various guises. The tables are supported by two to five identical seating frames, thus providing seats for two to five people. This is a fun way of filling a space with a mixture of small to medium-sized seating sets without losing uniformity. Perfect for office and hospitality. We also extended our Hopper range with Hopper Table and Hopper Combi. Kosmos came in a refined leather version, while Anker, Abachus and Captain’s chairs deserved a place in the spotlights as well.
Our furniture – and in particular the new addition to our collection, Virus – works even in the most sterile spaces, as we demonstrated at Orgatec with a moon landscape as our décor. In fact, as soon as humans took their first steps on the moon, they introduced certain viruses, and Extremis is mimicking this effect. However our chosen environment is the oxygen-starved office setting: Virus brings life and vitality!

Finding the balance between work and relaxation has turned out to be the one great challenge of our times. So we showed you how to do it: you could escape from the hustle and bustle of Orgatec with a visit to the brand new Extremis mezzanine at Design Post and taste a glass of the new Tremist beer … the perfect end to a hard working day!
“We have been thinking about the functionality of furniture in the sense that groups are not always in the same amount of people. So we wanted to have something that has the same design, but in all different sizes. We have called it Virus: one tube from the ground supporting the table top and another tube that supports the seat. Now this part can be combined with different tabletops. We can make a two seater with this (Dirk touches the tube delicately) with a small table top and then we can make a three seater, a four seater or - like this one - a five seater. But every time with the same leg so that you can put it in all the combinations in a big area. We have brought this range in a set of colours. You see, the design is very playful. You could think it's childrens furniture, sort of. I don't think it's a bad thing to bring out the child in every person in order to become more creative.”
“And now we have other stuff as well, like our Anker table in a refined version. Most of our products are designed for the private house but in fact we see that, as offices start to look more and more like home interiors, our furniture is asked a lot for projects too. The priorities in life are changing. I see it with young people in my company where it is not the most important thing to earn a lot of money and have the nicest cars, but work should be fun at the same time. And for that aspect we try to provide furniture that gives another atmosphere, that makes you feel at home so that you don't have the impression anymore that you really are at the workspace where you have to work but that you can enjoy the time that you're working, feel better and therefore be better in life.”
